Man Dies Waiting 50 Minutes for Ambulance to Come

Total Croatia News

In the summer months, the coastal cities and islands double in population, which is why, besides more hotels, accommodation and marinas, there should be more ambulances on islands and newer and better equipment for all emergency services. The recent tragedy that happened on Dugi Otok island highlights this important issue.

As 24 sata reports, the Italian tourist went for a swim and started drowning when the nearby bathers immediately rushed to help him, even reviving him at one point. Sadly, the father passed away right in front of his daughter’s eyes.

The people are mad and bitter because they had to resuscitate the man themselves while waiting 50 minutes (!) for the ambulance to come from Sali. When the ambulance came from the other end of the island, it was already too late.

The question is: how many more tragedies must happen for the government to react and improve the emergency services and infrastructure?
