Croatian winemakers Ivica Matošević and Vlado Krauthaker held on Wednesday night a rather spectacular presentation of their wines in Singapore, during the Epicurean Star Award ceremony, Singapore’s most prestigious gastronomy award. Their wines were the only ones served at a gala dinner for 1.200 guests. They presented four labels: Alba and red Grimalda by Matošević, and Graševina and Pinot Nero by Krauthaker. “Thanks to our distributer F8 Wines and the Restaurant Association of Singapore, we had the great privilege and honour to take part in the Epicurean Star Award. I had a special honour to hand over the award for best Western Fine Dine restaurant,” said Matošević. This is the second most important award at this ceremony, right after the best restaurant award, given this year to the Curate Restaurant, ahead of the L’Atelier by Joel Robuchon.
“Great people impress with their openness and simplicity, and during the dinner we shared the table with a representative of the absolute winner, Chef’s Table by Chef Stephan, toasting with our sparkling wine,” said Matošević.
“Being present with wines on this scene doesn’t only mean selling a bottle to a demanding guest in a fine restaurant, but much more. From the perspective of the Croatian scene it is a true challenge to build a long term business relationship based on constant quality and mutual respect. Last night we proudly told the story of our land and once again noticed people like this very much – our small country is part of the original, old wine world, and is only recently visible again on the wider scene – The New Old World Wine. Singapore has an incredibly rich and diverse restaurant audience which definitely loves food friendly style and character of our wines,” concluded Matošević.
Singapore is a nation with the highest purchase power in the world and is a hub for a large number of global companies. The presentation of the two Croatian winemakers at such an important event is exceptionally important for the promotion and future export of Croatian wines.
