Medical Marijuana Available in Croatia as of Tomorrow?

Only problem, pharmacies don’t know anything about it

As of tomorrow, October 15th, 2015, use of Indian cannabis for medical purposes will be allowed in Croatia since the Regulation on Medical Marijuana will come into power which allows its use to relieve symptoms of MS, cancer. epilepsy, AIDS and related conditions.

Regulation on Medical Marijuana states that medicine containing tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, donabinol and nabilon can be given to patients as prescription drugs and can only be purchased in pharmacies with a valid prescription.

Regulations are very clear: drugs containing THC can be prescribed in the quantities necessary for treatments up to 30 days, and the total amount of prescribed THC in 30 days of treatment must not be – for now – greater than 7.5 grams.

So, even though the entire Regulation was published in the Official Gazette (Narodne Novine) and by law, Regulation becomes valid on the 8th day after its publication, pharmacies across Croatia are yet to receive instructions on how  fulfill these prescriptions and prepare certain ointments. According to Index.hr, they have contacted several pharmacies and received the same answer “All the information we have regarding this subject, we received from the media”.

So, just just might want to hold off from running to your GP for a prescription for few more weeks until all parties involved decide on how to proceed in this matter.
