Total Croatia is a 100-page content and information-rich site which comprehensively answers the most-searched questions people search for regarding Croatia. From in-depth one-page destination guides (such as Hvar in a Page) and the most comprehensive Croatian airport guides online, to travel advice such as tipping in Croatia, introductions to Croatian food and wine and how to buy property, Total Croatia is a one-stop shop for people planning their holiday or searching for advice on topics such as healthcare and importing a car.
Researched and written by a Brit who has been living in Croatia since 2002, Total Croatia is written from the perspective of honest advice from personal experience by Total Croatia CEO Paul Bradbury, who now lives near Varazdin after 13 years on Hvar. With more than 30,000 articles on its network, Total Croatia assembles the very best and in-depth information and advice into one small and easily-navigable website.
The Total Croatia Project began in Jelsa on the island of Hvar in 2011 with the first portal for the island, Total Hvar. Other destination sites have been added – Split, Dubrovnik, Zagreb, Korcula, Inland Dalmatia and Medjugorje – as well as niche sites Total Croatia Wine, Total Croatia Cycling, Total Croatia Dental and Total Croatia Sailing. In 2015, Total Croatia News was launched, the first daily Google News-accredited site in English, and now the most widely read news and tourism portal in English for Croatia. The project has expanded internationally, with sister sites, Total Slovenia News and Total Montenegro News.
Bradbury was the 2014 winner of the FIJET Marco Polo Award for best international promotion of Croatia. He is the author of Hvar, An Insider’s Guide and Split, An Insider’s Guide (with Mila Hvilshoj), and Lavender, Dormice and a Donkey Named Mercedes – Expat Living on Hvar. In addition to bringing both the New York Times and Sunday Times to Hvar, Total Croatia News is regularly linked to by the national and international media, with Jutarnji List describing it in 2017 as ‘the world’s most reliable information for Croatian destinations.’
“There is so much information out there,” said Bradbury, “that finding the best and latest advice can be difficult. With the resources of our news website, all 100 articles will be regularly updated to give the very latest information. By keeping the site small and dedicated to the most important topics, we hope that visitors will find all they need in one place – a smooth start to their unforgettable Croatian holiday.
“The site was also constructed with a view to helping tourism boards, business and private accommodation. Individual sections can be linked to, so that these tourism providers can improve the guest information on their own pages, without having to worry about updating all the latest information. We plan to offer the site in other languages later in the year.”
