November the 20th, 2025 – A brand new nautical port with an impressive 90 berths is set to be constructed in Maslenica. A seaside promenade and more will also find itself there.

As Morski writes, the municipality of Jasenice has submitted a request for an environmental impact assessment to build a nautical port in Maslenica. If all goes to plan, it will be constructed at a location next to a demolished old bridge. This is an intervention that should improve the safety of vessel moorings and significantly contribute to the tourist offer of this part of the wider Zadar County area.

According to the documentation prepared by Zeleni servis d.o.o., the new nautical port is being planned on the coastal area of the settlement of Maslenica, on a location that is currently used for mooring the vessels of the local population. The current plan is to install an access pier of about 40 metres long and build a breakwater which will be about 170 metres long. The total area of the intervention, at both land and sea, will span approximately 40,700 square metres according to a report from 057info.

Within the future nautical port in Maslenica, the construction of both vehicle and pedestrian paths, maritime protective structures, accompanying catering and service facilities, and the arrangement of a protective green belt are planned. The new shoreline and the inner side of the breakwater will also be used to moor various types of vessels – from excursion boats to public transport and nautical tourism vessels. Around 90 berths are planned in the water area.

The project will be implemented in three phases. The first phase includes the development of the eastern part of the shore and the installation of a temporary slipway. The second phase will develop the western part of the shore, while the third phase is dedicated to the construction of the breakwater and the access pier.

The coastal part of the future port within the first two phases will include the construction of traffic areas, car parks and public pedestrian zones. A total of around 97 parking spaces are currently planned. A promenade is also planned along the coastline itself, and in the hinterland a two-lane road with a roundabout in the western part of the project is on the cards. Between the promenade and the road there will be a green belt and areas for catering and service facilities.

The study states that part of the project area has been under strong anthropogenic influence for a long time and that the habitat types that will be included in the works are also present in the wider area. Therefore, the impact of the project on the habitats is assessed as permanent, but of minor importance. It has also been revealed the newly created underwater areas will eventually be colonised by marine organisms, which will form new natural habitats.

With the construction of the Maslenica LNT, the Municipality of Jasenice expects to improve both the municipal and tourist infrastructure and provide the safer and much more organised reception of vessels.
