A young British woman dies on the island of Hvar, reports Dalmacija News on May 29, 2017.
Tragedy in Hvar Town and the loss of a young life, as Croatian media report that a young British woman, just 20, has died on the island, after doctors were unable to save her.
The cause of death has not been determined, but the young tourist was said to have been unconscious in front of a nightclub in Hvar Town, where she was alleged to have been consuming both alcohol and drugs.
Hvar, birthplace of organised tourism in Europe, home to the oldest public theatre in Europe, and the island with the most UNESCO heritage in the world, is frequently referred to as Croatia’s party island in recent times.

May 30 Update. The young tourist has been named by the British media.
Local sources are reporting that the young woman was a diabetic, and that she had not been taking drugs, as initially reported, but that the alcohol had reacted to her medication.
