They all arrived in Croatia as part of the promotion of the recently introduced Warsaw-Dubrovnik flight, and they’ll spend time getting better acquainted with the extreme south of Dalmatia.

huge numbers from poland for croatian tourism

“Poland is among the top five most important source markets of Croatian tourism, from which we achieve the largest number of tourist arrivals and overnight stays. This was also the case last year, when Polish tourists visiting this country realised 1.2 million arrivals and 7.1 million overnight stays. That figure represents an 8 percent increase in arrivals and 6 percent in terms of overnight stays compared to 2023.

The Poles highly value Croatia and its tourist offer. Croatia is among their favourite foreign destinations, and such positive trends are significantly contributed by, among other things, the increasingly improved transport connections between the two countries. PLL LOT is the Polish national airline and the Croatian National Tourist Board’s strategic partner. It is continuously working to strengthen the flight network to Croatian airports. We are certain that the new direct Warsaw-Dubrovnik route will encourage an even larger number of Polish tourists to choose Croatian destinations in the extreme south of the country,” said Kristjan Staničić, Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board.

lot plays a very significant role

Poles typically come to Croatia motivated by the beautiful coastline and nature, as well as to visit various cities, enjoy the country’s extremely diverse gastronomy and many cultural and historical sites.

“Croatia plays a very important role in the LOT Polish Airlines network, as evidenced by the high demand for flights between these countries. Back in 2024, almost 120,000 passengers flew between Poland and Croatia using LOT. Croatia has enormous tourist and business potential, and thanks to its well-developed tourist infrastructure, it’s one of the most popular travel destinations during the summer months. Dubrovnik, Split and Zagreb attract countless tourists every year, both from Poland and other countries. That’s why we’re continuously expanding our offer by providing quality connections that connect the markets of Central and Southern Europe,” said Robert Ludera, Director of the PLL LOT Flight Network Department.

A special programme of in Dubrovnik-Neretva County was therefore prepared for guests from Poland. They numbered around 30 in the group and were accompanied by Małgorzata Kowalska, director of the Croatian Tourist Board’s Representative Office in Poland. The aforementioned system of tourist boards also participated in the preparation of the programme.

During their stay in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, the Polish guests will have the opportunity to see and visit numerous destinations and landmarks. They include Dubrovnik and the famous city walls, Ston, where they will see the walls and taste the world renowned oysters, and then further south still down to Cavtat and the Konavle Heritage Museum in Čilipi, while they will taste locally made wines at the Crvik winery.

“Polish tourists sincerely appreciate southern Croatia’s offer, and they feel at home in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, especially on Pelješac, Korčula and Konavle. These destinations offer exactly what Poles are looking for, in addition to the sun and sea, an active holiday can be enjoyed here, as can an authentic wine and gastronomy offer.

It therefore isn’t remotely surprising that the number of Polish guests has been continuously growing in Dubrovnik-Neretva County in recent years. Last year, an increase of 11 percent in arrivals and 7 percent in overnight stays was recorded compared to 2023. An additional incentive for the arrival of Polish tourists is the new regular winter air route of the Polish national airline LOT, which will connect Warsaw and Dubrovnik with two flights per week starting this winter. This is very important for Dubrovnik-Neretva County, since Poland is among the five most important emitting markets for Croatian tourism.

strengthening connections by air

We expect that the new air route will further strengthen transport connections and encourage an even greater number of Polish tourists to visit the county, which abounds in history, natural beauty and authentic experiences”, emphasised Julijo Srgota, director of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Tourist Board.

It’s worth noting that during this year’s summer flight schedule, Croatia will have the largest number of passenger aircraft operations to markets such as Germany, the UK, France, Italy, and Poland. So far this year, Poles have spent the most overnight stays in Kvarner and Istria, and when looking at destinations – Zagreb, Rovinj, Opatija, Split, Zadar and Dubrovnik.
