The site is already completely covered up, but you can show your support by signing the petition.
When I wrote the first article on the amazing new archaeological site in Spit which proved the Greeks were stationed in Split well before emperor Diocletian, I hoped many of you would read it and express your opinion on this very important matter. The fact that a bus and a taxi stand is more important than a whole new light on the history of Split is simply appalling, the speed at which this is all being done even more so, and it is hard to believe that another solution cannot be found. On April 20, 2016, one of our readers started an online petition calling on mayor Baldasar and the authorities to rethink their decision and reject the proposal to build over the site.

It may not change anything, especially since the site was already filled today and levelled, as you can see in the photographs taken earlier during the day. Then again, there’s safety in numbers so if you too believe that there is a way to get the politicians to rethink their decision and save the archaeological site in Split, sign the petition.
