Austrian President Van Der Bellen to Visit Croatia

ZAGREB, September 7, 2018 – Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen is due in Croatia on Monday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of his Croatian counterpart Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, her office announced on Friday.

During the visit, Van der Bellen will meet with the Croatian state leadership and attend a Croatian-Austrian business forum.

The business forum will take place on Tuesday and will focus on cooperation in the area of railway infrastructure and logistics.

Meetings with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković are also scheduled for Tuesday.

Grabar-Kitarović and Van der Bellen met in Salzburg in July last year. The meeting, which also involved the president of Slovenia, focused on regional cooperation, the common European future and international challenges.

Austria is one of Croatia’s biggest partners in investment and trade, and every year about 1.2 million Austrian tourists visit the Croatian Adriatic coast.
