Foreign Minister confirms Croatia ready to take in their allocation of migrants to the EU.
Having confirmed its intention to take in 550 refugees in July, Croatian Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic confirmed last night that Croatia was ready to take in additional people resulting from the ongoing migrant crisis, as European Commission officials drew up a proposed plan for the resettling of the huge influx of migrants crossing EU borders.
“It remains to be seen whether the states (EU members) will accede to the obligatory refugee quotas or if they will be for non-binding quotas,” said Pusic, while confirming that Croatia would take in an additional 1064, thereby bringing the quota to 1614.
Pusic also called for more help for countries in the front line outside of the EU, such as Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt which were themselves drowning in new arrivals.
