According to the latest monthly poll, support for HDZ and Plenković is growing.
The results of the regular monthly poll on social and political preferences CRO Demoskop were announced on Sunday. The poll was conducted between 2 and 4 November, reports Index.hr on November 6, 2016.
If the parliamentary elections were conducted in early November, HDZ would win 31.5 percent of votes (compared to 30.6 percent in October), while SDP would be at the second position with 25.3 percent of votes (27 percent in October). They are followed by MOST (10.1 percent), Živi Zid (4.3 percent), HNS (3.1 percent), HSS (2.2 percent), Bandić Milan 365 (2.1 percent) and Pametno (2 percent).
The list of politicians about which respondent have a position opinion is led by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, who was the choice of 24 percent of respondents (21.9 percent in October). Second place belongs to “no one” (13.8 percent), while President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović is in the third place (11.7 percent). They are followed by the outgoing SDP president Zoran Milanović (6.6 percent), HNS candidate for Mayor of Zagreb Anka Mrak Taritaš (5.7 percent), MOST leader and Speaker of Parliament Božo Petrov (4.6 percent), former Culture Minister Zlatko Hasanbegović (4.1 percent), MP Ivan Pernar, MEP Tonino Picula, and former President Ivo Josipović.
Asked about the direction of the country, 27.5 percent of citizens said they thought Croatia was moving in the right direction (23.7 percent in October), while 56.8 percent of respondents said that Croatia was on the wrong track. (59.6 percent in October). Not surprisingly, the largest share of optimists can be found among voters of HDZ (63.8 percent) and MOST (43.8 percent). There are fewer optimists among SDP voters (16.7 percent).
On the 1-5 scale, President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received an average grade for her job performance of 3.16 (compared to 3.20 in October). She received highest marks from voters of HDZ (4.27), MOST (3.44) and HSP AS (3.27), and the lowest marks from voters of HNS (2.44) and Pametno (2.08).
Asked about the most important event in the last month, the plurality of respondents chose the agreement between HDZ and MOST on forming a new government (41.4 percent). It is followed by the announcement of tax reform plans (11.2 percent), emigration from Croatia (10.8 percent), arrest of former HVO members in Bosnia and Herzegovina (6.8 percent), and debate on the issue of abortion (4.2 percent).
