Another hour, another twist in Croatia’s longest running soap opera.
HDZ has reportedly made a decision to return to coalition negotiations with MOST, “but in a different way”. The decision was made during a two hour session of HDZ party presidency which met to discuss MOST’s offer to return to coalition negotiations. After the meeting ended, Darko Milinović said only that everybody was satisfied, while Dubravka Šuica said that the talks will continue, but in a different way. “Not the way you expect”, she told reporters, without elaborating what she really meant. The official response has still not been published, reports Jutarnji List and Vecernji List on December 21, 2015.
Before the meeting, HDZ president Tomislav Karamarko told reporters that he would not sign MOST’s proposal about the tripartite government which was signed on Saturday by SDP. “No, I would not sign it. I have told you everything about that piece of paper”, Karamarko said before the meeting of the party presidency. Karamarko added that HDZ had always been ready to talk with everybody and about everything which would solve the problems of the country and citizens. “Our framework is known and has been presented in the last two to three days”, he said.
HDZ secretary general Milijan Brkić said before the meeting that they do not change their opinion every day. “Today is a wonderful day. We are people who have honour, pride and dignity and do not change our opinions every day”, Brkić said.
Leaders of MOST and Croatia is Growing coalition were supposed to meet later today for a previously scheduled meeting where they should discuss possible formation of a new government and whether they are going to propose MOST leader Božo Petrov as prime minister-designate at tomorrow’s consultations with Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović.
