ORaH Launches Election Campaign

Total Croatia News

The election campaign has officially started for one Croatian party.

The president of the ORaH party Mirela Holy said in Split that her party has officially launched its campaign for the forthcoming parliamentary elections, under the slogan “Let’s Change Direction”, reports Novi List on September 5, 2015.

“We have officially launched the campaign, although the exact date of the elections has still not been announced. We assume with high probability that the elections will be held in November”, said Holy. She pointed out that ORaH plans to have candidate lists in all electoral constituencies and that its target voters are especially those who usually do not vote because they feel they have no one to vote for. “Our campaign slogan is ‘Let’s Change Direction’, because we believe that those who have brought us to the current situation cannot solve these problems, since it is impossible to solve the problems using their policies”, said Holy.

She explained that it is necessary to implement three key structural reforms: public administration, territorial organization and the judiciary. The public administration reform is necessary in order to establish an efficient service which will transparently solve the citizens’ problems. “As for the reform of territorial organization of the country, we want to abolish counties and create four regions and the city of Zagreb as a separate region”, said Holy, who warned that without the reform of the judiciary there will be no serious changes in Croatia.

She expressed her regret that, according to the latest surveys, the support for ORaH has declined to about 4 percent, which is not enough to cross the electoral threshold, but also said that the party will not be discouraged. “Of course, we cannot be happy with the results of the polls, in particular since a year ago we had a very high rating”, added Holy.

She reiterated that the pre-election coalition with SDP “is not an option”, although she claims that SDP offered her party eight safe parliamentary seats. “We are not a party that advocates political trade. It would be beneficial for us because we would have safe seats in parliament and would thus ensure the financing of the party for the next four years, however it would imply spitting on the very ideas why we were founded”, she explained.

Asked whether there is a possibility of coalition with SDP after the elections, Holy said that there is the possibility of talking about specific projects that would be in the interest of citizens. She also reiterated that “there is absolutely no possibility of coalition between ORaH and right wing parties”.
