HDZ has the lowest rating in last 12 months, but has no reason to worry.
Nova TV conducted its regular poll of political preferences in September, the month marked by torrential rains and floods, as well as the removal of the controversial memorial plaque from Jasenovac to Novska and the government’s decision to abandon the introduction of the property tax and to increase the price of electricity, reports dnevnik.hr on September 26, 2017.
HDZ had the support of 31.7 percent of voters (32.2 percent in August), while SDP was supported by 21.7 percent of respondents (22.7 percent in August). Both parties have recorded a slight decline – HDZ has the worst rating in 12 months, and SDP the worst in five months. However, there were no statistically significant changes.
Živi Zid grew slightly to 8.8 percent (from 7.9 percent), while MOST have the support of 7.3 percent of respondents. Both Živi Zid and MOST have slightly improved their ratings, but that is still within the statistical margin of error.
The four latest parties are followed by Bandić Milan 365 (3.9 percent), HSS (2.7 percent), IDS (2.4 percent), HSU (1.8 percent), Pametno (1.6 percent) and HNS (1.1 percent), which saw its support collapse after entering into a coalition with HDZ.
About 64 percent of respondents think Country is moving in the wrong direction, while 25 percent believe that it is on the right track. The level of pessimism has been roughly the same in the last three months.
Government’s policies are not supported by 61 percent of respondents, while 30 percent think that the government is doing the right thing. This is the fourth month in a row that the dissatisfaction with the government’s decisions has been growing.
Most of the respondents, 64 percent of them, think that the government will survive until the end of this parliament. The figure is slightly lower than the previous month, but there is still a large majority of those who think that Plenković’s cabinet will not collapse. Just 25 percent of respondents believe that early elections will be called. While 92 percent of HDZ voters believe in government’s stability, their opinion is shared by, interestingly, as much as 65 percent of SDP voters.
The survey was conducted by the Ipsos agency between 1 and 18 September, on a sample of 968 adult citizens from all over Croatia.
