Five months after coming to power, the government has started losing support.
On Friday evening Nova TV announced results of its regular monthly Crobarometar poll, which brought not very positive news for the ruling parties, reports dnevnik.hr on March 25, 2017.
HDZ is still by far the strongest political party, with the support of 33.3 percent of voters. But, this is the first time in many months that its support has decreased. In February, the party was supported by 35.1 percent of voters. It remains to be seen in the following months whether this is the beginning of a trend or just a temporary dip in support.
On the other hand, after five months of falling, SDP now has the support of 23 percent of voters, while a month before they were supported by 21.9 percent of voters. Both changes are within the statistical error, but they do come less than two months prior to local elections.
MOST is third with the support of 8.6 percent of voters, ahead of Živi Zid with 7.3 percent.
The four largest parties are followed by Bandić Milan 365 party (3.2 percent), Istrian regional party IDS (3.1 percent), HNS (2.8 percent), HSS (2.3 percent), Pametno (2.1 percent), and HDSSB (1.1 percent).
As for policies of Andrej Plenković’s government, 47 percent of voters do not support them, while 41 percent do support them. That is the second worst result for the government since coming into office. A month ago, 42 percent of citizens did not support the government’s policies, while 45 percent supported them.
After five months of Plenković’s government, 59 percent of respondents think that Croatia is going in the wrong direction. That is the highest percentage of pessimists since the formation of the current government. Just 34 percent of respondents think that the country is on the right track.
As for President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, her activities are supported by 49 percent of voters, while 43 percent do not think she is doing a good job. One month ago, 51 percent of respondent supported her. Her policies are supported by 87 percent of HDZ voters, 61 percent of MOST voters, 41 percent of Živi Zid voters, and 21 percent of SDP voters.
Respondents were also asked about their personal impression of individual politicians. President is viewed positively by 55 percent of voters (60 percent a month ago), and negatively by 39 percent of voters (34 percent in February). Andrej Plenković is rated positively by 52 percent of voters (56 percent in February), and negatively by 40 percent (35 percent a month ago). Speaker of Parliament Božo Petrov is viewed positively by 45 percent of citizens (51 percent in February), and negatively by 45 percent (40 in February).
There are no good news for new SDP president Davor Bernardić either. He is viewed positively by 31 percent of voters (36 percent a month ago) and negatively by 46 percent (36 percent).
