Most voters say that PM Orešković is responsible for government’s shortcomings
According to a survey conducted by RTL Television, nearly 60 percent of respondents do not believe that Prime Minister Tihomir Orešković’s team is functioning as well as it should, reports RTL on March 6, 2016.
As much as 58 percent of respondents consider that government is completely or largely unsuccessful, 28 percent of voters believe that cooperation among the Patriotic Coalition, MOST and the Prime Minister is neither especially successful nor unsuccessful while 10 percent of voters see the government as a success. Interestingly, 20 percent of voters who support HDZ and MOST share the negative opinion about the government.
When it comes to who is to blame for problems, almost 40 percent of respondents believe that the Prime Minister is responsible. About 33 percent of voters think that HDZ is responsible while 16 percent of voters blame MOST. The list of top 5 culprits includes President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović as well, but with a significantly smaller percentage of those who believe she is to be blamed.
When it comes to the government’s best decision, 29 percent of voters chose the decision not to cut salaries and pensions. About 10 percent of respondents consider as the best decision the abolition of the Committee on Non-Profit Media by the Culture Ministry. Interestingly, the list of top 5 good decision includes the attempts to protect the former Veterans Affairs Minister Mijo Crnoja in the wake of his scandal which ultimately led to his resignation. About five percent of respondents believe that all decisions were good.
The top place on the list of the worst decisions made by the government belongs to the overall selection of ministers. About 15 percent of respondent consider new ministers to be unskilled and of low quality. The scandal with the former Veterans Minister comes second. The third place belongs to the unfulfilled promise to cut salaries of political officials, which is the top concern for 12 percent of respondents. The top 5 places on the list of worst government decisions also include the slowness in making decisions, as well as the selection of Zlatko Hasanbegović as the Culture Minister.
