President Grabar-Kitarović and Prime Minister Plenković send their Christmas messages.
Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović send on Friday her Christmas message to Želimir Puljić, president of the Croatian Bishops’ Conference, to all Croatian archbishops and bishops, priests, nuns, monks and all the faithful at home and abroad, reports Index.hr on December 23, 2016.
“We see Christmas, the feast of the birth of Jesus Christ, as a Christian feast of joy and peace, family and religious unity. I am convinced that, following the model of Christ and inspired by the spirit of Christmas renewal, the Church in our homeland will continue to promote true humanism, solidarity and culture of dialogue, contributing to the building of Croatia as a good country for all its citizens”, wrote the President.
The president also sent her Christmas message to the Archbishop of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanić, expressing her hopes for the successful work of the Synod during the next year, “so that the Zagreb Archdiocese would be spiritually strengthened”.
Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković congratulated Christmas on Friday on behalf of the government to all Croatian citizens. He expressed his wish that Christmas should be an additional incentive to use mutual respect and partnership to continue to build a modern Croatian society.
In his message of congratulation, the Prime Minister said that Christmas is the most joyous Christian holiday, the time of unity and understanding and closeness of family and friendship, which teaches us about humility and solidarity and is a special opportunity to remember those who need help and attention. Christmas days are full of optimism and hope, and invite us to promote Christian and universal human values and provide active commitment to the common good.
“May this feast of peace and joy be an additional incentive for mutual respect in order to foster good cooperation and partnership in order to continue to build a modern society. On behalf of the Croatian government and myself, I will Merry Christmas to all Christian believers in Croatia and our compatriots abroad”, concluded the Prime Minister.
