ZAGREB, August 15, 2018 – President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović on Wednesday joined the celebration of the Feast of the Assumption at the Marian shrine in Aljmaš, saying “our faith gives us courage for day-to-day life and a future without fear.”
“It is a special joy to be part of today’s large procession of pilgrims in Aljmaš, one of our many national sanctuaries dedicated to the Mother of God, Queen of the Croats. Our people were exiled together with Our Lady, but returned to our magnificent Aljmaš”, the president said, according to a press release from the office.
“And therefore, remembering all those who sacrificed their lives to defend this part of our homeland and celebrating the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, today we celebrate the culture of life and love! With the figure of a humble and modest woman who triumphs over evil, our faith gives us courage for day-to-day life and a future without fear,” said the president.
Mass was celebrated by Msgr. Đuro Hranić, Archbishop and Metropolitan of Đakovo and Osijek.
