President Grabar-Kitarović to Travel to Mongolia

On Friday and Saturday, the President will attend the Asia-Europe Meeting in Ulan Bator.

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović will participate in the 11th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) which will be held in Ulan Bator in Mongolia on Friday and Saturday. She has been invited to attend this major summit by Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, announced the Office of the President, reports Večernji List on July 13, 2016.

The President will participate in the plenary meetings of the ASEM where the participants will discuss the achievements and prospects of the two decades of partnership, as well as the possibilities for strengthening the partnership between Europe and Asia.

In addition to Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj, on the sidelines of the Asia-Europe meeting the President will hold a bilateral meeting with President of the Swiss Confederation Johann Schneider-Ammann.

This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the Asia-Europe Meeting, which was first held in 1996 as a forum for dialogue and cooperation between Europe and Asia. In addition to heads of state and government of European and Asian countries, the ASEM meeting will be attended by president of the European Council Donald Tusk, president of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.

The Mongolian President visited Croatia in 2011, while Croatian President Stjepan Mesić visited Mongolia in 2008.
