ZAGREB, April 29, 2018 – On the second day of her official visit to Macedonia, Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović met with Croatian business people and Croatian police on a mission guarding the southern border in Gevgelija, the President’s Office said in a press release.
Grabar-Kitarović said her visit to Macedonia was a confirmation of the good bilateral relations between Croatia and Macedonia, adding that both countries wanted to improve their relations. In this respect, it is essential to use the opportunities of both countries to strengthen the economic cooperation, she underscored.
She expressed her satisfaction with the volume of trade and tourist visits, emphasising that Croatian companies such as Podravka, Kraš and the M SAN Group were satisfied with their business performance in Macedonia.
The president thanked the Croatian police officers for supporting their Macedonian colleagues in monitoring illegal migration and for making an important contribution to Croatia’s efforts in addressing one of the most significant challenges to Croatian national security. “With your engagement alongside other Central European partners, Croatia has sent a strong message of solidarity to Macedonia, being aware that we cannot and should not expect Macedonia to confront this enormous challenge on its own,” Grabar-Kitarović said.
She also met with the Bishop of Skopje Kiro Stojanov and the parish priest of Skopje Davor Topić, who informed her about the parish community and its activities. They thanked her for the support provided by Croatia and the Croatian embassy in Skopje, the press release said.
