ZAGREB, May 1, 2018 – President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović issued an International Workers’ Day message on Monday, saying that by observing this day on May 1, one joined everyone that promoted the value of work and the work ethic in Croatian society.
“Observing May 1, the International Workers’ Day, has a long tradition in Croatia. We remember with pride all those who won a more just treatment of workers, and we thank those who today too advocate their rights, who fight for the best possible standards for them. Today we join all those who promote the value of work and the work ethic in our society,” the president said.
“I wish to support a more positive social climate in which honest work will be valued with dignity, and to protect the rights of industrious, professional, honest and creative Croatian workers who are appreciated around the world,” she said.
“The foundation of Croatia’s development and progress, as well as a prerequisite for young people staying in our country, are equal work conditions and improved standards for all workers,” the president said.
