ZAGREB, August 3, 2018 – Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Thursday dismissed the argument that speeches on Victory Day and Homeland Thanksgiving Day in Knin on Sunday were planned for 8 a.m. so that he would not be booed by citizens.
He was responding to the question from the press if he was afraid of whistles given that the speeches were scheduled for 8 a.m.
“There have been some modifications this year. Some war veterans’ associations wanted as many people as possible to attend the speeches and, given the temperature forecast for Knin on Sunday, given the experience from previous years and the fact that Sinjska Alka is taking place the same day, it was decided to hold the speeches in the morning,” Plenković said.
He also commented on reactions in Bosnia and Herzegovina to the construction of the Pelješac bridge, saying Croatia was a friend to BiH, that the bridge would be built on Croatian territory and that it was a strategic project funded by the European Union with 357 million kuna.
“I wish Bosnia and Herzegovina the best. If you have in front of Neum a bridge that is 55 metres tall and with more than 200 metres between pillars, then I don’t know what kind of ship couldn’t pass under that bridge.”
