Former Croatian PM is not going home afterall…yet
Out-of-court council of the Zagreb County Court did not accept the request made by Ivo Sanader’s attorneys Jadranka Sloković and Čedo Prodanović and he will remain in remand detention. The court did not accept the claims made by Sanader’s attorneys that the legal deadline of three and a half years for remand detention has passed and that with the detention in Austria prior to his extradition to Croatia he spent more than 2 years and 9 months in prison.
Sanader and his team of attorneys can appeal this decision to the Supreme Court, however he will have to remain in Remetinec until they reach a decision. While he is deciding whether to appeal this decision and file yet another constitutional case, Sanader will also await the new preliminary hearing for the Hypo and Ina / Mol cases. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for the beginning of September.
