According to the new Cro demoskop public opinion survey for September, conducted by Promocija plus, HDZ’s lead is almost entirely gone, and the ruling coalition now has a 29% support while HDZ’s support, while they’re still in the lead, has dropped to 31,1%.
SDP started catching up to HDZ five months ago when the difference between the ruling coalition and HDZ was over 6%. Along with our two largest political parties, only two parties somewhat close to the election treshold are ORaH and Živi zid but their support continues to decline. As far as the new parties are concerned, Reformists, Milan Bandić 365, Most – independent lists and Naprijed Hrvatska/ Forward Croatia have all failed the grand expectations of their founders still being far from the 5% support needed to win seats in parliament.
Whether the support for the ruling coalition is rising because of their recent decisions regarding the arbitrary proceedings and Swiss Franc locan conversion, one thing is for sure, HDZ’s attitude that they more or less have the elections in their pocket is starting to backfire.
