SDP Members Launch Petition for Davor Bernardić to Step Down

Hot water for Bernardić, and just who thought up and prepared the petition remains unknown.

As tportal writes on the 25th of June, 2018, a petition has found itself in the media, with which unsatisfied SDP members intend to see Davor Bernardić step down from his position as SDP leader. So far, the creator and the signatories of the petition remain unknown, which is translated below:

”Dear Davor,

When you started your SDP campaign less than two years ago, you announced that the core of your work would be to overcome the divisions that exist within the party, that people being thrown out and disbanding will no longer happen, that you’ll unite and strengthen SDP.

Unfortunately, everything happening today in SDP is the complete opposite of what you announced.

Less members are involved in intra-party elections than ever before.

There are no members in the entire organisation who’d have the right to vote.

Members of the party are either leaving or becoming passive, organisations are being disbanded, divisions are increasing, and the party ratings have been falling continuously, they’re now the lowest since 2015.

The responsibility for this situation isn’t only yours, but because of the fact that you’re the president, your responsibility is the greatest.

When you requested and received support from the SDP Presidency and the General Board in September 2017, you once again promised positive changes and a qualitative shift in the work of the party, but nothing has happened. Dear Davor, we’re sure that you can see that this is no longer the case.

For this reason, and considering that any other move would be an alibi for non-violation and the further sinking of SDP, which none of us can, nor do we want to look at peacefully, the signatories of this letter have to ask you to resign for the sake of the future of SDP, and that you step down from the position of party president.”

The letter would have to be handed to Bernardić himself by the end of this week, and only then will it be known who all of the signatories are, N1 reports.
