Official statistics on Croatia’s birth and death rates are released.
According to figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS), 2014 was a year of negative population growth in Croatia, with 11,273 fewer births than deaths. In all there were 39,566 births in the country, compared to 50,839 deaths, with the number of children born in 2014 also down on 2013, by 373, or 0.9%. Deaths were up by the same percentrage, 453 in all.
Additional statistics included 19,501 marriages in 2014, with 6,570 divorces.
