November the 30th, 2024 – The company Qelo has installed two brand new ultra-fast electric vehicle charging stations in Croatia. Their plans are ambitious as they see the overall popularity of electric cars rising.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, an ultra-fast 400 kW charging station will be installed at the Učka tunnel portal, with the ability to charge vehicles at 800V, which allows for battery charging to be completed with a mere fifteen minutes.
This has been specifically tailored to commercial and larger vehicles, including trucks and buses, with Qelo setting new standards for transport hubs across the Republic of Croatia.
Qelo’s new electric vehicle charging stations in Croatia are also equipped with a dynamic power optimisation system, which automatically adjusts charging according to the battery condition and the specific needs of each vehicle. This functionality allows for maximum efficiency in the use of electricity and minimises overall waiting times at charging stations.
Locating electric vehicle charging stations and the thought of having to wait around for long periods of time when charging their car otherwise pose two of the biggest issues for would-be electric car purchasers.
“Our business model is based on estimates that in 2025, there could be 40,000 electric vehicles on Croatia’s roads, while by 2030 this number could increase to 200,000,” said Predrag Šeatović, the CEO of Qelo.
“The goal of Qelo is to construct a minimum of 10,000 public electric vehicle charging stations across Croatia, with a special emphasis placed on fast and ultra-fast charging stations. That in itself is an infrastructural prerequisite for the successful development of e-mobility in this country.”
The new electric vehicle charging stations in Kvarner and Mirna are the next step in Qelo’s ambitious strategic plan, which aims to ensure that Croatia becomes a model e-mobility destination in the EU. Qelo currently operates almost forty electric vehicle charging stations in ten locations across the country. The company plans to expand its electric vehicle charging stations across Croatia and into neighbouring countries, including Slovenia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Macedonia.
