April the 2nd, 2025 – Record revenue for Croatia from foreign visitors is a result of more consumption and spending outside of the height of the summer season in 2024.

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Jadranka Dozan writes, the actual peak tourist season of 2024 brought in slightly less revenue from foreign tourists than the year before. That being said, thanks to the achievements in the pre-season and post-season, there was an increase in inflows and record revenue for Croatia from foreign visitors in 2024, according to the latest data from the Croatian National Bank (CNB).

During July, August and September, 9.06 billion euros were recorded compared to 9.12 billion recorded in the same quarter a year ago. Looking at the situation on an annual basis, revenue for Croatia from foreign visitors increased by around 389 million or 2.7 percent, reaching almost 15 billion euros (14.98 billion) in 2024.

Over 40 percent of last year’s revenue growth, however, was due to a 10 percent increase in these inflows in the last quarter. According to the CNB’s calculations, revenue for Croatia from foreign visitors in 2024 reached almost 1.8 billion euros. That’s almost 165 million euros more than back during the same period in 2023.

The ministry is particularly pleased with the record results achieved during the pre- and post-season. They have claimed that those sums were largely contributed to by growing investments in the tourism sector that have raised the overall quality of the offer and services. Tourism Minister Tonči Glavina also emphasised the positive contribution of the government in terms of investments. This was done both through EU funds and by securing funds in the state budget for investments in tourism infrastructure to raise its quality. He has stated that he hopes for good results this year as well.

is croatia a year-round destination yet?

“In preparation for this tourist year, we’ve carried out strong promotion at some of the world’s largest fairs with a special emphasis placed on Croatia’s most important source markets. Announcements from these markets support Croatia as a desirable tourist destination that offers value for money,” he said. He also added that all changes being made as part of the comprehensive tourism management reform are aimed at generating as much revenue as possible. The primary aim however remains raising the quality of Croatia’s tourist offer and positioning the country as a sustainable and year-round destination.

Judging by the first statistical figures for 2025 (only those on the number of overnight stays and arrivals in January are available) the first signals indicate that things are heading in the direction of a further increase in the importance of pre-season and post-season achievements. The total number of tourist overnight stays achieved in January was 9.4 percent higher than in January last year. The number of arrivals was also 11.3 percent higher.
