March the 5th, 2025 – The famous Rijeka carnival attracted 11,000 people dressed in all kinds of outfits for its 2025 edition, showcasing why it’s considered the best. Even “Melania Trump” showed up with a man who definitely isn’t her husband!
As Morski writes, over 11,000 carnival enthusiasts and 109 carnival groups, sixteen of whom were from abroad and ten from outside of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, marched through Rijeka’s Korzo on Sunday. The much loved Rijeka carnival put on a fantastic show yet again for 2025, confirming once again that Croatia’s industrial city on the northern Adriatic coast continues to embrace its rich carnival traditions in the best possible way.
As many as 140 journalists from across Croatia and abroad were accredited to cover the Rijeka carnival procession, meaning that photos and videos of the Rijeka carnival 2025 will be sent all over the world. Numerous travel agencies also brought their guests to the home of the torpedo by bus. There were even two special trains from Budapest and Ljubljana which brought guests to the sun-drenched Korzo and Riva.
This year, six ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the Republic of Croatia, as well as representatives of five friend cities (Burgas, Karlsruhe, Este, Genoa and Tuzla), participated in the carnival events.
The Rijeka carnival procession started at exactly 12 o’clock for the 2025 edition. It was led by the Renault PA Škurinje vehicles, followed by the Mayor of Rijeka Marko Filipović, the Master of the Rijeka Carnival and Queen Nora, as well as the tourist board’s director and many more.
Somewhere halfway through the carnival procession, a somewhat unflattering “Melania Trump” walked along the route along which the carnival procession was moving. She was closely accompanied by a handsome naval officer.
At the end of the procession, according to tradition, the amazing Halubaj Bell Ringers came out and warmed the hearts of the audience with their magical looks.
