Solar Car ”Rudjer” presented in Dubrovnik: 150km without re-charging battery!

If the famous Dubrovnik genius Rudjer Boskovic is looking down, he will certainly be very proud!

Today, teachers and students of the Crafts and Technical School in Dubrovnik presented a solar electric car bearing the highly symbolic name ”Rudjer 01”

As DuList reports on the 28th of June, 2017, this incredible project was created in cooperation with the Association of Innovators ”Dubrovnik” and was primarily designed and created to participate in the race of solar electric cars of the Croatian ”Soela” secondary schools in the inland town of Sisak, just 57km southeast of Zagreb.

The Director of the school, Dinko Mandic, and Professor Zeljko Prce, President of the Dubrovnik Association of Innovators, explained to the popular local media outlet DuList more specifically how they came up with this amazing idea, who participated and what plans they have in the pipeline for the future.

“We were in Sisak on a professional meeting where we met with colleagues from this school, organisers and project leaders, as well as with other schools that created this project. At the beginning of this school year, we started collecting money for the project of building a solar electric car. We have to point out that the cost of the equipment is extremely expensive, and also demanding. Because of that, we had problems with the order in Dubrovnik because these parts cannot be found in our city. We had to order certain parts from other parts of Croatia. So, our first activity in the realisation of this project was the collection of funds where the City, County, Association of Technical Culture, the Association of Innovators ”Dubrovnik” helped us” stated Dinko Mandic.

This is yet another in a long line of incredible ideas and creations to come out of Croatia, particularly of its very talented youth. All this, and with the good of the environment firmly in mind, what could be better?
