More young doctors for Split.

With the latest “contingent” of 46 residents who will soon, after they get the approval by the Ministry of Health, be employed in the Split Hospital Centre, the number of young doctors who have started their residencies in Firule and Križine hospitals will rise to 170, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on August 23, 2015.

“We are pleased with the number of new residents whom we have selected after an open competition. We hope that this will not be the last group of new residents who will start working in our hospital”, said Kolja Poljak, the acting general manager of the hospital.

“We have received applications from a total of 190 candidates with valid documents, who have filed a total of 650 applications. The reason is that some of them have sent us as many as five applications for various specializations. The following departments will get one new resident each: endocrinology, rheumatology, allergology, pulmonology, neurology, dermatology, physical medicine, abdominal surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, otorhinolaryngology, maxillofacial surgery, paediatrics, microbiology and blood transfusions. Two residencies have been approved for the departments of nuclear medicine, child psychiatry, oncology, paediatric surgery, ophthalmology and orthopaedics. Three specializations have been approved for gastroenterology, nephrology, anaesthesiology, gynaecology and radiology departments. There is only one medical department which will have four new residents, and that is cardiology”, said Marija Jeličić, head of the Personnel Department of the Split Clinical Hospital Centre.

The hospital will now send all the necessary documents to the Ministry of Health so that 46 new residents can receive a ministerial approval which is necessary for them to begin their residencies.

Unusually, the whole procedure was completed on time, and with no formal complaints.
