Split artists commemorate the heroic cities with a large mural

It was initiated by the district municipality to commemorate the 24th anniversary of the occupation of Croatia’s heroic city of Vukovar, victims of Ovčara and Remembrance week.
“We wanted to pay tribute to all of those who gave their lives for our freedom, especially to the heroic defenders of Vukovar and Ovčara. This is our way of telling them we will never forget their sacrifice” said Petar Gudić, president of the Pujanke district municipality. Along with the famous water tower, mural also depicts Blago Zadro, Andrija Marić, Marko Babić, Petar Kačić and his son, the youngest victim of Ovčara Igor Kačić and Jean Michel Nicolier, French national who died defending Croatia and whose body was never recovered.
