ABA League Basketball: Croatian Teams With First Positive Balance

October 22, 2023 – Split pulls off first ABA League win at home against Borac (75:61), Zadar with second win in Novo mesto against Krka (75:88) and Cibona Zagreb still remain without points after their loss against Budućnost in Podgorica (93:85).

Split have scored their first win in the 2023/24 AdmiralBet ABA League campaign as they defeated Borac Mozzart in this week’s NLB Match of the Round. 

Key moments: Apart from that 3rd quarter in which the yellow-and-black troops regained a double-digit lead, we should also mention a very important 7:0 run the Split made in the final quarter to increase their lead from 59:53 to 66:53 and to repel Borac Mozzart final attempt of making a comeback.

Man of the match: Split guard Toni Perković has tied his AdmiralBet ABA League career-high 21 points to lead his team toward the win in this match. He also had 4 rebounds and 2 assists, while his overall index rating was 20.

Zadar added another big win to their season record as they defeated Krka on the road in Round 4 of the 2023/24 AdmiralBet ABA League regular season. 

Everything was over already in the first half in which the visitors have played probably their best 20 minutes of the season so far. Zadar scored 48 points in the first half, while they had a 22-point lead at the big break – 48:26.

In the rest of the match, Zadar have kept their double-digit lead without any major problems and the away side eventually seized their 2nd win of the season.

Budućnost VOLI have beaten Cibona in an exciting Friday night encounter in Morača Sports Hall. This way, the Podgorica squad have protected their undefeated record in the 2023/24 AdmiralBet ABA League Regular Season and are on a 4:0 after 4 games played so far. On the other side, Cibona keep waiting for their first win of the season, placed at the very bottom of the standings of the regional competition.

Key moments: At halftime, the two squads have still only been separated by only a couple of points (43:41), but soon after the big break, Budućnost VOLI pulled away. They made a 12:3 run over the opening 6 minutes of the second half, to create themselves an 11-point advantage (55:44). With 14 minutes to go, it turned out, that it has been fatal for the visiting side, as they did not manage to re-enter the battle for two points until the very end.
