Dinamo Zagreb – Olympiacos 0:1
Even though, according to coach Zoran Mamić, DInamo played even better than aginst Arsenal, it just wasn’t enough to beat Olympiacos on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in the 3rd round of the Champions League group stage.
It was a pivotal clash, since a win against Olympiacos would have given Dinamo a chance of going on to the next round as the second placed team in Group F behind the yet unbeaten Bayern Munich. But after Brown Ideye’s goal in the 79th minute (after a mistake by Dinamo’s goal keeper Eduardo), Dinamo’s chances of qualifying now look very slim.
It seemed that luck was just not on Dinamo’s side last night. After hitting two posts( Domagoj Antolić and Marko Rog) and having Soudani’s goal disallowed for offside (conceeding a goal just one minute after), the referee did not award them a penalty after the ball hit Milivojević’s hand in the last seconds of the game.
This result keeps Olympiacos second in Group F with the same amount of points as Bayern who were beaten by Arsenal (2:0) last night. Dinamo remains third because of their better head to head record against Arsenal.
Dinamo’s chances of qualifying now look slim but they had a string of fine chances, with captain Domagoj Antolic and Marko Rog both hitting the post in the second half.
