Croatian Basketball Team will play the final match tomorrow in an effort to reach the Olympic Games in Rio.
Croatian basketball fans have missed games like the one played on July 8, 2016. in Turin. Croatia was playing against Greece in the semi-final of the Olympic Qualification Tournament, and the match had everything basketball has to offer.
Croatia opened the match in perfect shape, and after just 12 minutes of the game had a 24-point lead. It was all daisies at that point, but as usual, Croatian athletes rarely leave their fans out of dramatic finishes.
Greece fought back, and in the third quarter, they even took the lead. It looked like Aleksandar Petrović would be facing mockery, as he had lost a few games after a big lead in his career, but Bogdanović, Šarić and Hezonja provided some magic on the court and saved the day for the Croatian coach.
The match ended 66-61 for Croatia, and the celebrations were wild. Tomorrow, Croatia will play the final against the winner of the Italy – Mexico match, but it is almost safe to say that we will watch the replay of the first round game against the host team.
One can only hope that the result will be different, so we can enjoy basketball tournament at the Olympics with Croatian participation.
