Croatian football players will have a new playing kit for Euro 2016 in France and we take a look at all the jerseys and kits they played in so far
It is not official yet, but the new kit for Croatian National Team has been published by footyheadlines.com on March 14. 2016, and they usually get it right. Official supplier for CFF has decided the new kit is to be an homage to one of the most famous official kits, the one Croatian team was wearing during the World Cup in 1998 in France, as the checkers are looking as they are flaunting in the wind, just like they did on the ’98 jersey. The away kit has not been revealed yet, but it is expected to be blue and white with checkers on it.
To commemorate all the great games and sports apparel we’ve played in, we’re going to go down memory lane and remember all the official kits Croatian national team played in.
Through history, the jersey did not change much, apart from ‘98 case, when the home kit was predominantly white, with just some checkers on the chest and shoulders. The historical color for the kit was red, but as Croatia fought for its independence, painter Miroslav Šutej came up with checkered jerseys in 1990, and it became a recognizable pattern worldwide.
As for the history of the away kit, it used to be white, but in ‘98 the blue one was introduced, and it remained like that to this day. The home kit is to symbolize the Croatian flag, as the jersey is predominantly red, shorts are white, and socks are blue. This new kit was supposed to have a more contemporary look and it was an Eco-friendly one, as, since 2012, jerseys are made out of recycled plastic bottles, a small effort to save the planet.
It is to be seen how the fans will react to the change as tastes are not to be discussed and everybody has a favorite kit through history, but it will greatly depend on the success of the team in the upcoming Euro 2016 championship.
