Just as we started to forget his previous arrest back in July, Croatia’s football mover and shaker Zdravko Mamić was arrested again on November 18, 2015 in Zagreb.
As reported by Index.hr, Jutarnji List and Večernji List, Mamić was arrested along with three other men, including his son Mario Mamić, who is a football manager.
Mario was not a part of the investigation which led to the previous arrest of Zdravko Mamić, but Damir Vrbanović, Executive director of the Croatian Football Federation was, and he was detained for questioning as soon as he returned from Russia where Croatian national football team played a friendly match last night. Sandro Stišančić and Igor Krot, both businessmen from Istria are allegedly also under investigation and they have previously been linked to money laundering through their off shore accounts.
According to Croatia media, this new investigation is looking into questionable transfers of Dinamo’s players through Mamić Sport Agency (MSA). All above mentioned persons are accused of forming a crime organization which extracted approximately 80 million kuna from Dinamo between 2004 and 2015.
Police and USKOK are currently performing a search of Zdravko Mamić’s house as well as the offices of Dinamo. There is still no information on whether Zdravko Mamić was taken back to Remetinec prison or is he still being questioned.
