January the 3rd, 2025 – The dawn of yet another year has brought more new fans to both Hajduk Split and Dinamo Zagreb, with both clubs acquiring significant new member numbers.

As Morski writes, on the first day of the New Year, annual membership registration for Hajduk Split began, as it did for Dinamo Zagreb. The number of members can be tracked online for Hajduk Split, with Dinamo Zagreb having made the same possible this year.

On the first day of 2025, almost 19,000 new “official” fans had already joined Hajduk Split. That figure will have hiked up even more by now, and will likely continue to do so as the days and weeks tick by and passionate Dalmatians prepare for another year of tense matches.

“The large number of members is the result of the fact that the different profiles of fans and their emotions have ended up being woven into record numbers,” said Marinka Akrap, a member of the Hajduk Management Board.

As mentioned above, alongside Hajduk Split, Dinamo Zagreb also made it possible to publicly track the number of new members this year, a novelty for the Zagreb-based club.

The two clubs are otherwise those which divide the Croatian football scene the most passionately, with keen followers from both the capital and the Dalmatia region. Known for their face-offs, they’re by far the most well known Croatian football clubs outside of the national team.

Dinamo Zagreb in particular has often unfortunately been associated with corruption and the infamous Zdravko Mamic. That name has left a serious stain on the football club’s history, but it doesn’t seem to have put anyone off as Zagreb’s home team move forward.
