A total of six medals for Croatia and excellent form for her atheletes
Osijek native Ivan Horvat is on an excellent streak this winter. At the Balkan Championship in Belgrade, an overture for the European Indoor Championship, he won the pole jump competition with a fantastic 5.76 metres, Jutarnji List reported on February 25, 2017.
This is an absolute Croatian record, while it’s also important to say this is the sixth best result in the world this year and fourth in Europe. He improved on the record he set last week by four centimetres.
Stipe Žunić also won, throwing the shot-put 20.77 metres and also confirming excellent form. Seventh result in the world and fifth in Europe in 2017.
Croatia won another four medals. Silver for Zvonimir Ivašković at 60 metres (6.79) and Ivana Lončarek at 60 metre hurdles (8.16), bronze for High jumpers Ana Šimić (186) and Alan Melon (219).
Martina Fileš also improved the record she set last week in pole jump by 4 centimetres by reaching 4.05 metres and equalling the absolute record held by Ivona Jerković. In triple jump Paola Borović reached 13.39 metres, the new indoor record for Croatian athletes, ending up in 4th place.
