TCN brings you the itinerary of Croatian athletes’ participation at the Olympics (all times are in Central European Time Zone)
Here is the schedule for Croatian athletes on August 9. 2016, at the Olympics, the curiosity of the day is a double clash against Argentina:
13.30 Rowing
Damir Martin starts with the quarter-final race of the single sculls at the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon in Copacabana. Two hours later, Martin and Valent Sinković will start the semi-final race in the double sculls discipline.
18.05 Sailing
Tonči Stipanović holds the first position after yesterday’s first two races of the Laser discipline, and he will race two more today. Tina Mihelić (11th place after the first two races) has the third and fourth race in the Laser Radial, Luka Mratović (14th after the first three races) has three more on the surfboard, and Ivan Kljaković Gašpić starts his competition in the Finn discipline.
02.50 (Wednesday) Handball
The Cowboys will face Argentina in the second round of the group stage of the Olympic handball tournament. The win is a must after they failed in the first round, and if they perform in a manner everybody is expecting, there should be no surprises.
03.30 (Wednesday) Basketball
The surprise winners against Spain will try to catch the wave of success and stage one more surprise against Argentina. There is quite a euphoric feeling among the basketball fans in Croatia, but it has to be said that Argentina is a strong favorite for the win. But as we mentioned before, Croatia has a new spirit and a united team which is capable for more surprises.
