September and October: Time to Discover the Hvar Cycling Paradise

Total Croatia News

There is a marked change in tourism on the island of Hvar from July and August to September and October.

Gone are the party tourists as the nightclubs close, and the beaches too – although still popular – are a lot less crowded. Locals have an eye away from tourism and towards their fields – the grape harvest in September, the olive harvest in October. It is a magical time to visit the island, with its peak season finished.

And nowhere is this change of tourism noted more than on the islands roads. The peak season rental scooters are replaced by cyclists. Dozens of them.

Cycling tourism in Dalmatia has been a slow but steady growth industry in recent years, and the less busy roads, pleasant but cooler temperatures and challenging rides in pretty scenery make Dalmatia, and expecially Hvar, an ideal cycling holiday, either for individuals or groups.

Cycling tourism has become increasingly organised in recent years, and the opportunity to island hope gives cyclists the chance to explore Hvar, Brac and Korcula, as well as the mainland, in one itinerary, for example.

And it is hard to think about Hvar and cycling without mentioning the agency which has done much to promote cycling on the island, for Hvar + Cycling = Hvar Adventure.

Celebrating a decade in the adrenaline business on Hvar cycling is one of the six core activities of this local agency – kayaking, sailing, hiking, rock climbing and Ironman training are the others – and the team from Hvar Adventure have an impressive range of cycling options, including personal training from a former member of the Croatian ladies’ team.

The quality of their offer is matched by the equipment, and cyclists can choose from a range of the RAZHA Pinarello range. Check out what is available here.

For more information on the range of cycling tours – from the half day excursion to something altogether more challenging – check out the Hvar Adventure website,

The Hvar Adventure cycling options have been enhanced in recent weeks, with the launch of Hvar Life, a new website and offer, with plenty to interest cyclists. Check out Hvar Life here
