The unbeaten Croats won the Olympic gold medal in double sculls
August 11. 2016 was not the date for Sinković brothers to lose their first race in the double sculls. The Lithuanian crew gave them a run for the win, as they were ahead in the middle of the race, but Martin and Valent Sinković fought back and won the gold.
They were quite emotional after the win, and it was to be expected; Valent Sinković said that even if they are never to sit on a boat ever again, they did it all. His brother Martin barely refrained from bursting into tears and said that this was probably their toughest race ever but stated that they are delighted to overcome the fear and pain and win the gold.
The Lithuanian crew came second, and Norway finished third.
