“Tennis is returning home”, said the banner presented in front of Hajduk and Dinamo players before the Cup match on Poljud
Press conference was held last week in Zagreb at Hotel Esplanade, announcing a Tennis WTA 125k event which will be held from May 28th to June 5th in Bol, Croatia. Tournament director Feliks Lukas appreciated the support for the tournament from the Croatian Tennis Association, Croatian National Tourist Board, City of Bol and Split – Dalmatian County.
Croatian FED CUP team players Ana Konjuh and Ana Vrljic also greeted the tournament which will give younger Croatian players a chance to compete at top level.
It’s been 13 years since the last WTA tournament was staged in Bol, Croatian tennis lovers (and not only Croatan ones) remember some big stars, including Ana Kournikova participating in the event and also a number of beautiful shots of Bol presented worldwide during the international TV broadcasting of the tournament.
It will be interesting to see first class tennis in Bol again, especially as it is scheduled just before peak tourist season, and Bol being one of most spectacular tennis venues not only in Croatia. Tickets for the tournament will be available from April 1st, 2016, so stay tuned.
