Educational inspiration for Dalmatian schools from Scandinavia.

With the recent return from Stockholm, three mobility programs within the Erasmus+ initiative have been completed. The project was carried out by the Spinut Elementary School in Split. Three elementary school teachers travelled to Sweden to widen their professional knowledge, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on Ocober 20, 2015.

“The goal was to apply the new knowledge in working with children and to teach students how to use mobile applications and programs. The usage of basic mobile application relates to activities in schools and field work. This professional development also has a European dimension, which means the cooperation with schools across Europe, sharing experiences with colleagues with the aim of improving the quality of educational process, as well as developing e-learning methods”, the teachers from Split explained.

Teachers Lidija Čajkušić and Anamaria Sabatini took part in the Smile course which included knowledge concerning the use of national cultural heritage and museums as sources for learning and teaching, as well as raising awareness about various aspects of identity. The course demonstrated the importance of the role of museums in European education and the importance of cooperation between schools and museums. The participants were also introduced to the importance of experiential learning which leads to permanent knowledge.

Teacher Ivana Bokavšek attended the Digital Extra course and got acquainted with the use of mobile devices, computers and tablets in classrooms. She learned how to use museums for research purposes. The participants also heard about the need of opening the museums to schools, about the importance of digital exhibitions and about the creation of virtual tours.

Participants from different European countries have made the whole stay very interesting. In a pleasant atmosphere, teachers exchanged their best practices and experiences, and visited museums in Stockholm. On the last day, the participants went to the Museum of Science and Technology where in a television studio they recorded a television program about their stay in Sweden.
