Conde Nast Traveler: Trakoscan Makes List of Most Beautiful European Castles

Lauren Simmonds

Hardly a stranger to lists, Croatia’s beautiful Trakoscan castle finds itself showcased on a list compiled by one of the most well respected publications in the travel game…

Croatia has rather unwittingly become the owner of a great many titles, and the small Adriatic country is without a shred of a doubt the most popular up and coming European destination of late. Finding stunning locations along the Dalmatian coast and more recently Zagreb ranked highly on various bucket lists by numerous travel oriented portals and magazines; it seems the world is slowly waking up to the Croatia that lies just outside of the view of the sea, and perhaps some of the country’s most underrated gems.

Placed at number 11 on Conde Nast Traveler’s list of ”The Most Beautiful Castles in Europe”, the 13th century Trakoscan castle in Northern Croatia can safely rest on its aesthetic laurels.

Conde Nast Traveler has featured a handful of Croatian destinations on its various lists recently, but nothing is more encouraging for the side of Croatia tourists often overlook than seeing the absolutely beautiful Trakoscan castle placed proudly alongside locations such as Eilean Donan Castle in Scotland and Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. Published by Conde Nast, the magazine has an impressive 25 National Magazine awards under its belt and unarguably offers Croatia top class exposure to its wide readership.
