ZAGREB, October 17, 2018 – Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković opened an exhibition called “Croatie. Pleine de couleurs (Croatia, Full of Colours)” in Paris’ Carrousel du Louvre shopping mall on Tuesday evening, whose aim is to promote Croatia as a travel destination and increase its visibility in the world.

On display are 26 large-format photographs by Croatian photographer, traveller and adventurist Davor Rostuhar showing all Croatian regions, their nature, traditions, customs and people, with all colours of the seasons. They are part of his large project “Croatia from Above” which was published by National Geographic as its first photo monograph from Croatia.

The exhibition is open until November 20, and the organisers expect that several million people will see it because the exhibition venue is visited by more than three million people annually.

Opening the exhibition, Plenković said he was pleased that Croatia was being presented next to the famous glass pyramid of the Louvre Museum. “This is an excellent opportunity to promote Croatia’s cultural heritage and regions,” the prime minister said, noting that the tourist industry accounts for 20 percent of the country’s GDP.

Paris First District Mayor Jean-Francois Legaret said that Croatia is full of cultural values and expressed a desire to strengthen communication and cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking on behalf of the organisers, the director of the Croatian Tourism Board, Kristjan Staničić, said: “We are proud that we can promote Croatia in the heart of Paris, because France is one of the most important markets for Croatian tourism.”

He said that this year Croatia had seen an 8% increase in overnight stays by French tourists, and that he was glad that, apart from Dubrovnik and Split, French tourists were increasingly visiting Zagreb, Istria, Kvarner and Slavonia.
