Trekking race Green Trek will take place on the beautiful island of Mljet on September 16, 2017, reports Dalmacija Danas, on September 4, 2017.
Mljet is the eighth largest island in Croatia, one of the largest southern Dalmatian islands, and the southernmost and easternmost island of the larger Croatian islands.It is an island full of buzzing animal life and native forests of Aleppo pine, stone pine and holm oak. It is considered the greenest and most wooded island of Croatia, whose western part is the oldest National Park on the Adriatic, while the eastern part is a natural reserve.
Martina and her husband Damjan have been living on Mljet for the last few years and they also run the Uliks youth association.They have already organised a number of successful projects, and this year, they have enthusiastically taken up organising trekking racing named Green Trekk Mljet.
Trekking is a physical activity that involves walking, hiking or running on the most diverse natural terrain and vegetation systems – mountains, hills, islands or plains, at marked or unmarked paths, without the help of motorized or other means of transport – but with the help of maps, compasses, GPS, prescribed mandatory personal equipment and supplies of food and water. Trekking races can range from 10km to even 100 miles and are intended for everyone: from tourists, recreationist and nature lovers to professional athletes.

Entry fee is 60 kunas for the shortest race and 120 kunas for the other two races.The first Green Trekk Mljet will hold three races:
- Ogiran (5 km)
- Kalipso (10-12 km)
- Odisej (20-22 km)
The Green Trekk races will start at 9.30 A.M. on September 16, 2017. The start of the race is at Pomena and the finish line at Odisej Hotel.
Programme
- 08.00-9.00 A.M. – registration and allocation of start numbers and packages
- 9.30 A.M. – start of all races
- 1.00 P.M. – lunch for the contestants
- 2.00 P.M. – award ceremony
The entry fee includes (starter pack):

Awards
The top 3 contestants from each category will be awarde medals and gift sponsors.
Rules
- all contestants participate at their own risk
- persons under the age of 18 may participate with the written approval of the parent/guardian
- the contestants agree that the organizer may use film and photographic material recorded during the race
- the organizer provides services of the professional medical team and the HGSS in the event of an accident
- the competitor is required to have all the required equipment prescribed below
