Thinking of a weekend getaway in March? Here’s an idea: a visit to a beautiful national park which doubles as a short holiday on the Adriatic

The staff of Brijuni National Park used their winter break to spruce up the facilities before spring rolls around with the first groups of visitors in tow. Hotel Neptun-Istra, located at the harbour on Veliki Brijun island, is reopening for the season starting from today, reports Glas Istre on March 2, 2018.

According to the hotel director Marno Milotić, the entire object got a new layer of fresh paint during the last couple of months, with a temporary reception desk introduced at Hotel Istra. This touch-up cost the hotel some 100.000 kuna, and 10.000 more are about to be spent to revamp the main reception desk in Hotel Neptun. Both amounts are relatively low, as the hotel staff carried out most of the works on their own.

The reopening coincides with the traditional offer ‘Spring on Brijuni’, devised in a way to be attractive and financially affordable to the local population, namely some of the 200.000 residents of Istria. The offer is available during the month of March, save for its second weekend when Brijuni are hosting 150 guests arriving to the National Park for its traditional marathon.

Thinking of a weekend getaway in March? ‘Spring on Brijuni’ includes boat transfer from the mainland to Veliki Brijun and back (Fažana – Brijuni – Fažana), along with accommodation in double rooms or suites at relatively affordable prices. For example, bed and breakfast Hotel Neptun will cost you 300 kuna (40 euro) per day for a double room, or 400 kuna (50 euro) if you opt for a suite. A double room in Hotel Istra is also priced at 400 kuna per day.

The offer also includes a tour of the educational trail Zelenikovac, a bike ride to several attractive locations on the Good Vibrations route, a visit to the interpretative-educational centre Boat House and a tour of the renowned Mediterranean garden.
