Lido beach in Opatija welcomes its first guests over the weekend.
After years of stagnation, Opatija is now successfully moving forward with tourism revival projects such as the newly opened Lido beach, part of the future Lido Bevanda Beach Resort. Zoran Maržić, owner of the Bevanda hotel and restaurant, designed the beach so it resembles the finest beaches of the French Riviera. Even though only the first part of the project is completed, owner Maržić is satisfied and sees this as one more step towards his goal of turning this part of Opatija into an elite tourism location.
“Lido beach is an exceptionally beautiful beach, however it was a lot cheaper to build than similar beaches in Rovinj, Hvar or Dubrovnik. This is a place that will „create a story“ and when you have a great offer, quality and good events – you have everything. And that’s the kind of tourism we want” – Maržić commented.
As of last Saturday, guests will be able to enjoy the sand part of the Lido beach complete with palm trees, a swimming pool, sun beds and bars while the famous Lungomare is now raised to a slightly higher level in order to complement the future summer stage.
