October 23, 2024 – Recently, the filming of a joint promotional video for the Tourist Boards of the City of Otočac, Brinje, and Vrhovine was completed and premiered at the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Otočac Tourist Board.

With funding from the Croatian Tourist Board, they joined forces to showcase their region and attract visitors who will long remember the experiences and distinctiveness of their area. Unlike many other videos, the residents of these places – around forty of them – starred in the video themselves, highlighting the aspects of life in their region that bring them daily joy.

More than forty extras participated patiently over four days, and thanks are extended to their employers for allowing them to take part. It’s also worth noting something unusual – the video has two beginnings and two endings. The first is driven by emotion, while the second has a slightly artistic touch, and both are connected by keys, symbolizing the start of an adventure and the collection of experiences. Many recorded scenes were left unused, as there is so much to see, but we believe there will be opportunities to showcase the remaining attractions in the future.

The opening scene features a traditional Lika family and their grandchildren, and by taking the keys to the Sokolac Castle, the magic of an adventure begins. In approximately 2.5 minutes, scenes will unfold like a film reel before the viewer’s eyes – Sokolac Castle, the natural beauty of the area, culinary specialties, outdoor activities, the Otočac promenade, zip-line, the lake, history carved in stone, Fortica, the oldest stone bridge, forest trails, and a meadow surrounded by rocks and trees, Majer’s Spring, Ribić restaurant, Miki restaurant, the Japods Cave, the Kuterevo Bear Refuge, the source of the Gacka River and a fisherman, airplane rides, zip-line, and much more, all confirming that this region hides real treasures, from cultural heritage to sports activities. The dynamic change of scenes aimed to convey playfulness and variety, which is not difficult to associate with the filmed locations.

The video is narrated in English, metaphorically describing the scenes. The creative concept and script were developed by Hana Klain from the Klain PR agency, the director and main cinematographer is Filip Bašić from DOKU FILMS, with assistance of Stjepan Dolenec.

The production work was overseen by Viktorija Rogić from the Otočac Tourist Board, and Nikolina Holjak from Arsa Design Studio created the graphics. Damian Paić was responsible for the animations, as well as editing, along with Filip and Danijel Kačavenda.
